Whether it's live music or theater, spectators and performers have ample opportunity to enjoy the arts. The Heritage Philharmonic (formally Independence Symphony) a community volunteer orchestra, performs a variety of concerts throughout the year. To audition, or for up-to-date scheduling information, call (816) 350-2644. The 300-voice Messiah Choir performs Handel'sMessiahannually at the Community of Christ Auditorium. The concert features guest soloists and the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. For information, call the Central Ticket office at (816) 235-6222. The Independence Art Association holds monthly meetings with a featured speaker or program. The organization holds an annual art show and administers annual scholarships for Independence students.
